Project Details

Description

In this project a cascadable multichannel power meter for energy measurement in multi-phase power nets is developed. Error free channel switching is guaranteed, since all signal-processing components are synchronised with the line frequency. In the first part of the project all influences on the design goals are examined which lead to the specification of the final measurement system. This analysis includes all system components and the theory of the digital phase-locked-loop. In the second part of the project the prototype of the power meter is developed where all necessary calculations are performed by the use of three digital signal processors. The software for the digital signal processors includes algorithms for handling 48 bit integers without truncation errors during long term averaging.
