The most important objective of the network Modelling, simulation and computer-aided design in engineering and management is the cultural exchange of know-how and expertise. The cultural denotation means that the different partners of the network are from different education origins. Especially in engineering and management the ability to apply new point of views or approaches to replace well known and established classical approaches is low. The network, on basis of the bilateral personal contact, should transport new considerations in the fields of the involved partner institutions.
One example to illustrate: There are mathematical descriptions of models which are used in different fields of application, some models in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and computer science, which are described by the same equations. Only the parameters are different interpreted in the particular circumstance. The different simulation environments in the disciplines force the scientists to implement the same model in different simulation environments in a different way. This could also work in other disciplines and make some problems regarding simulation easier to solve. This example should illustrate the main idea to distribute approaches of the different members of the network. This can help enormous when people are working in multidisciplinary projects during and after passing the education. Other important objective is to contribute to the setting of uniform criteria for PhD degrees in the field of modelling, simulation and computer-aided design in engineering and management, in the CEEPUS region.
