Modelling and optimization of multi-service optical switching networks (WTZ)

Project: Research project

Project Details

Description

The present project aims at conducting joint research on analytical modelling of present-day optical switching networks used in nodes of telecommunications and computer networks. The project envisages a development of models of nodes of optical networks that would take into consideration the physical characteristics of traffic sources, elasticity of resource allocation and advanced traffic management mechanisms in these nodes. The models to be developed will make it possible to determine traffic characteristics for nodes of optical networks used in routers and switches of both local and wide area networks as well as data center networks. Works on the development of a methodology for modelling optical networks that would take into consideration the properties of modern traffic sources will facilitate a better understanding of the operation of modern networks and will eventually lead to streamlining the process of designing, dimensioning and optimization of network devices.
