The concept of model-based diagnostics aims to integrate new innovative control functions into the electronic control unit of a hybrid vehicle. Once triggered, these functions drive the vehicle into specific states allowing for a huge variety of diagnostics. This thesis focuses on the development of robust state observers for the reconstruction of non-measureable (vehicle) system states aiming to increase the levels of diagnostics quality and also efficiency.
