Messer-Stiftungspreis - Koruza - Lead-free dielectrics and piezoceramics, their structure, manufacture and functionality

Project: Research project

Project Details

Description

The main goal of this project is to develop a new processing route for lead-free porous piezoceramic platforms. Targeted design of the porosity enables new functionalities for a set of tomorrow´s applications, which are not achievable by using conventional piezoceramic materials. These so called piezopapers can be used for harvesting waste mechanical vibrations or temperature changes from the environment and transform them to electrical energy, which can be used to power autonomous battery-free sensors or wireless communication for the Internet of Things. In addition, the new structures could be used as sonochemical microreactors or biomedical scaffolds.
