Jagd+ - Satellite-based determination of danger areas for the avoidance of accidents with long weapons

Wildlife hunting is discussed controversially in Austria, although hunting has traditionally a high priority on the one hand and is a major economic factor on the other. Above all, drive hunts represent the biggest potential risks that led frequently to serious injury or death of hunters or drovers. The knowledge of other hunters positions during a drive hunt can bring a significant increase of safety for all participating persons. Satellite based technologies (GNSS) can provide this information. Within the project Jagd+, the consortium wants to develop a system, that might automatically lock the gun if other hunters are within its range. The system will be based on relative GNSS positions and an orientation estimation of the gun itself.
