Project Details

Description

Globalization, volatile markets, complex rapidly changing technologies as well as complex expectations of customers force suppliers, producers and distributors to collaborate with each other efficiently. The complexity of the supply chains is a result of this interconnected world in which people live together and share their daily business. In the last 15 years the network concept has become an important topic in the discipline of Supply Chain Management. Volatile Supply Networks as a holistic optimization of material and information flows defy the corporate boundaries and set the entire value chain into focus. This research project deals with the problem how the visibility of lower-tier suppliers (suppliers which occur after Tier-1) can be increased in order both to avoid risk and, secondly, to identify strategic advantages in the value chain through this visibility.
