Project Details

Description

Goal of this project is the development of a gasification unit for salix and straw chips. The second goal is the adaptation of a gas engine to be powered by these gases from the gasification process. Two different gasification principles are in discussion - air blown and steam blown. These two types of gasification deliver different hydrogen and tar content in the gas itself. The gasengine should be optimized to endure operation with such gases. Therefore the mixture formation unit has to be modified to handle these gases with the high temperature and pressure. The conventional mixture formation process will not be used more. Instead of it, concepts of mixture formation near the inlet-valves or direct in the combustion chamber are developed.
