Measurement and simulation-based investigation of an innovative, SmartHome controlled shading on a residential building with heat pump with regard to energetic and comfort-relevant aspects
The shading of transparent surfaces in residential buildings is one of the most important components for comfort and comfort of the residents, but also the energy efficiency in climate change. Despite these important functions, shading is today often regarded only as a cost-causing design element with dimming function, whereas a faulty control or operation and sometimes wrong Product selection is not uncommon cause of this impression.
The aim of this project is to investigate the effect of shading on comfort and energy aspects controlled by innovative SmartHome technology and to illustrate the effect of the installed components in interaction with the user.
For this purpose, a low-energy single-family dwelling was equipped by the participating industrial research partners with an innovative SmartHome controlling System. The numerous measurement data, collected by the SmartHome sensors, are processed by the Laboratory for Building Physics of Graz University of Technology for monitoring, structuring and evaluation over 3 seasons. In addition, the laboratory for building physics has added a PMV probe, a global radiation sensor and other components to the SmartHome measurement technology.
On the basis of the properties of the examined object (construction, floor plan, window surfaces and orientation, ...), a virtual model was developed with which accompanying simulation calculations are carried out. For individual periods of time, the potential of optimal shading with regard to specifically avoidable solar energy inputs (summer) and achievable solar energy inputs (winter) can be shown.
In addition, based on the acquired findings, optimization possibilities with regard to the control and the influence of the user are shown and findings visualized by a multimedia specialist for those interested.
