This research project aims to develop radically new and intelligent energy supply concepts on the facade of existing multi-storey buildings, which allow a high integration of active an passive building technology elements in prefabricated facade modules. On the one hand this aspect offers significant opportunities for reducing overall costs of refurbishment and on the other hand for overcoming barriers in building restoration (i.e. acceptance of occupants). At the same time, the development of smart energy concepts, which is in close interaction with the room behind (flat) and whose components are consistently integrated into prefabricated facade modules, embarks an entirely-new research field of comprehensive and highly-efficient regorganisation of multi-story buildings.
