In the "GrindMedEng" project, a study is being developed for a completely new grinding centre for medical engineering. As a "showcase", the grinding of knee joint prostheses is being processed. First, the requirements for the workpiece are analysed in terms of tolerances and surface qualities. In the following work package, the focus is on the right choice of the grinding tool. Following this, the grinding parameters are determined. Finally, all this input information is incorporated into a grinding machine concept that is intended to be universally applicable not only for artificial knee joints but also for other implants.
