FFG-Fischer - High Performance Control of Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning Systems

Project: Research project

Project Details

Description

The scope of the project is the design and implementation of powerful control strategies for so-called heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. These systems are used to control the air temperature and the air humidity in buildings. During the first part of the project mathematical models for the main components of HVAC systems are derived and composed to a Simulink library. Based on these mathematical models control strategies for HVAC systems are designed which can cope with the demands posed on the behaviour of the
overall system. One major challenge for the development of the control strategy is given by the requirement that the effort for tuning controller parameters should be kept as low as possible. In order to check the performance of the control concepts in real world applications a HVAC pilot plant is provided by the industrial partner of the project.
