Description

The simultaneous successful achievement of mechanical property combinations like creep resistance and durable behaviour against low cycle fatigue in a forged part in many cases depends on the unquantifiable experience of the forging staff or on the application of many expensive experiments. Therefore, a quantitative method of predicting the local microstructure development during thermomechanical processing and thus, determining the mechanical properties over the whole cross-section of a forging would be useful. The goal of this project is to adapt and to improve the existing microstructure model for the two nickel base superalloys INCONEL718 and UDIMET720, and to connect this model to the commercial FE-program "DEFORM 2D".
