EU - RFS-CR-04044 SemiComp - Plastic member capacity of semi-compact steel sections - a more economic design (Semi-Comp)

EU-project on the plastic capacity of semi-compact cross-sections and members made of steel. Numerical and experimental inverstigations.
Since for this specific group of rolled and welded profiles EUROCODE 3 does not allow to exploit their full capacity, the present project should eliminate this handicap. This will be based on testing, numerical simulations and the development of new design rules. The results of the project would widen the applicability of semi-compact steel profiles due to their increased competitiveness, would reduce the material and energy consumption and would lead to a more economic design of steel structures.
