Description
This area deals with the synthesis, characterization and processing of rubber materials. An important point is the developmnet of crosslinking (vulcanization) techniques for rubbers and rubber latices. Several instruments are available for processing, curing and testing of rubbers and cured rubbers. Over the past years, surface modification of elastomers (e.g. by photochemical techniques) has gained importance.
