Within this project, an ammonia-cracker for mobile applications has been developed at TU Graz, Institute for Chemical Technology of Inorganic Materials, since 1997 in co-operation with the Institute for High Voltage Engineering (1998-2000, the project being passed on to the newly established Institute for Electricity Economics and Energy Innovation in 2001) by order of Electric Auto Corporation, USA. The goal of EAC is mass-production of the ammonia cracker in the USA. The publications listed below were approved by EAC. In order to be able to continue work at TU Graz (development of simulation software and system optimisations utilizing a Hardware-in-the-Loop test rig comprising of the developed cracker and an alkaline fuel cell), the Institute for High Voltage Engineering issued a project application entitled Construction of a Labcar on Basis of Alkaline Fuel Cells and Ammonia (NH3) as Fuel in co-operation with the Institute for Chemical Technology of Inorganic Materials and AVL List GmbH (project coordinator).
