Description

Simulation of embedded systems is challenging because they are heterogeneous - most systems consist of hardware- and software-modules. It is very important in the design process for embedded systems to have the choice between different models (levels of details, modeling domains). After starting the design process on a high-level, the modules of the system are described in more detail. Cosimulation verifies whether this refined description is equivalent to the initial specification. In this context two things are very important: (i) A key component is a well-defined cosimulation-interface to other tools (modeling domains), (ii) Using a refined description is often connected with a higher execution-speed for the simulation. Special simulators are necessary to avoid waiting for verification results.
