Continuous purification of pharmaceutical ingredients via continuous annular electrochromatography

Project: Research area

Project Details

Description

The goal of this project is to develop novel purification processes for pharmaceutical ingredients. Specifically, systems developed for continuous electrochromatography will be improved. For this purpose, tailor-made functionalized silica-based and organic monoliths will be developed as stationary phases. The new materials will be tested using capillary electro-chromatography (CEC). In the next step the monoliths will be implemented in a planar prototype, which allows semi-continuous processing with inline process control. The preparation of the stationary phases will thus be adapted for bigger filling volumes. The final separation system is an annular prototype that combines the advantages of capillary electro- and liquid chromatography, so that high throughputs can be achieved. In this prototype the multicomponent separation of the model compounds will be validated.
