Computer simulation of precipitation kinetics in solid metals and application to the complex power plant steel CB8

Project: Research project

Project Details

Description

A novel multi-component, multi-particle, multi-phase precipitation model implemented in MatCalc is used to predict the precipitation kinetics in metals. The temporal evolution of interacting precipitates is simulated in simple model systems up to complex industrial melts. Experimental data are used to evaluate end fit the model. The outcome of this project is a tool that allows companies developing components for USC thermal power plants to optimize these alloys and the heat treatment to maximize the creep resistance during service.
