Calculation of High-Voltage Fields

    Project: Research area

    Project Details

    Description

The goal of high voltage fields calculation is the determination of the electric potential distribution in insulating systems under the given operation and overvoltage stress within the volume and over the time. Relation to the design of high-voltage devices and equipment, especially the field strength at the surface of electrodes (breakdown processes) as well as at the dielectric interfaces (creeping discharge) is substantial. Research and development activities deal with fitting the different numerical calculation methods to the individual field calculation problem and with methods to evaluate the so-called field factors for predesign and studies of the sensitivity. Due to this topic a special software has been developed (MaXim).
