The project develops a novel ceramic-concrete composite construction system for structural shells. Key aspects of the work are the system geometry and related low-volume production of custom ceramic elements, the development of the construction process and the understanding of the structural behavior. The design of protoypical shells serves as a vehicle that allows the development of the novel ceramic element and the study of the related issues of low-volume production. We focus on shells with non-developable geometries. The construction process and the study of the structural behavior are being developed and investigated in collaboration with the Labor für konstruktiven Ingenieurbau. The building of a prototypical shell would be a desirable last step, but funding for this phase is pending.
