For the treatment of bone fractures metal screws have been used for decades. Usually, they have to be removed again in most cases, since they act as a foreign body in the bone. This creates new defects. In addition there is the risk of infection and the risk that the bone parts do not bind at all. The worst and most burding for the patients is the second operation, the metal removal! The human bone screw SHARK SCREW made out of human donor material adheres to the bone tissue and heals without soft tissue irritation and without residue. The second operation is spared the patient because the body recognizes and accepts the allogenic bone matrix and converts it so that the screw, one year after surgery, is no longer visible in the X-ray. The aim is to develop prototypes of a human bone screw, for osteosynthesis (bone fixation) for orthodontics and foot surgery, which are made from donor bones. In the project, specifications and requirements for these products are to be clarified, in order to design the prototypes so that maximum patient safety and strength of the products can be guaranteed. Design is understood as various parameters which define the strength of a screw (outer & inner thread diameter, length, thread radius, thread pitch, etc).
