Assessment of steel and composite bridges on high speed railway lines concerning fatigue

Project: Research project

Project Details

Description

Steel and composite bridges on high speed railway lines are designed for fatigue, based on the static effects of the axle loads only. Comprehensive parametric numerical studies are done to calculate the fatigue damage due to dynamic bridge crossings of the trains, based on the train-mixtures. The fatigue damage due to dynamic train effects is compared with the design fatigue damage, used in practice.
