Constructing Good Point Sets on the Sphere: Small Discrepancy and Numerical Integration Error

Activity: Talk or presentationInvited talk at conference or symposiumScience to science

Description

In Minisymposium "Discrepancy and Minimal Energy"

Deterministically obtained good point sets on the sphere (in three dimensions or higher) are of great interest in applied mathematics and engineering, physics and computer science. We consider constructions with small discrepancy, a measure quantifying deviation from uniform distribution, and small error of numerical integration when using Quasi-Monte Carlo methods, which are equal weight numerical integration formulas with deterministic node sets, from a numerical and theoretical point of view.
