Abstract
In this paper, we present the use of ground penetrating radar for the evaluation of natural stone masonry on historic structures. In the examples, the buildings had to be assessed regarding the wall’s type of construction and with respect to voids behind or cracks within the outermost layer of stone. The boundary conditions for the measurement are described along with the applied radar system. The data analysis and results are presented. Account is given on the limits and possibilities of radar for the use on historic masonry structures made of natural stone.
