Gravity field determination - made in Austria.

Publikation: Beitrag in einer FachzeitschriftArtikelForschungBegutachtung

Abstract

For the last gravity field determination for Austria in 1983 least-squares collocation, supplemented by a topographic-isostatic data reduction and a set of potential coefficients complete to degree and order 180, has been used to calculate both the geoid and the quasigeoid from 521 surface vertical defections. A digital terrain model (20" X 20" point data), confined to Austria and supplemented by a worldwide 1o X 1o DTM, has been used for the topographic-isostatic data reduction. The results obtained for the difference between quasigeoid and geoid are in remarkable agreement with the figures derived from Bouguer anomalies and topographical height data. For the central Alps a maximum of 35 cm is obtained. The standard deviation of geoidal height differences with respect to a central point is estimated to be better than 10 cm.-Author
