Abstract

Hemolytic processes affect diagnostic parameters, resulting in a reduction of reliability and accuracy of lab analysis. The detection of free hemoglobin in blood plasma is used for the development of a hemolysis test strip, eliminating this source of error. The sensoric element of the system is formed by a hexacyanoferrate film on the working electrode. Four different hexacyanoferrate compounds were examined as possible modifying agents for the working electrode of the test strip. All modified sensors were characterized using cyclic voltammetry and analysis of the parameters signal intensity, reproducibility and signal stability has been performed. The results confirm ferric hexacyanoferrate, which has been enriched on glutaraldehyd membranes, as a suitable modificator. These membranes show a pronounced electrochemical behaviour, high signal stability as well as an excellent reproducibility. However, further studies applying hemoglobin are required in order to validate the present measuring principle.
