Abstract

A web-based reporting application was developed for Roche Diagnostics Graz GmbH. This application allows the analysis of production data from an existent production database system. The amount of needed software validation in medical technology related areas should be minimized after adding or changing reports. In order to reach this aim the configurations of reports (sql-statement, in- and output parameters) were stored in a database. The web-based application generates the graphical user interface during runtime according to the stored configuration. Additional reports could be added to the configuration without revalidating the software. The application was implemented in J2EE and Java Server Faces (JSF). These technologies allowed a well structured and programmatically build-up of the user interface. Complex input elements were implemented to increase the usability of the application. The implementation of these input elements was supported through additional JSF-libraries (e.g. Apache Tomahawk, Jboss Richfaces) and Ajax (asynchronous JavaScript and xml). Thus the easy distribution of the web-application could be combined with the usability of a client-side application. Moreover an alarm system was implemented which informs responsible employees when process parameters are reaching predefined limits. Furthermore reportings were developed to analyse the production processes. The production data were fetched from an existing oracle based production data system. For example the analysis of process capability, throughput time and first pass yield (FPY) were implemented in Sql and Pl/Sql. All in all the application gives an objective view of production processes without the loss of flexibility in the validated environment.
