Abstract

Growing population in general and especially in metropolitan areas demands innovations in urban development and land-use planning and therefore in transportation as well. Beside of the usual known transportation systems urban ropeways are getting increasing attention because of their advantages, attractive costs and new topological opportunities compared with the traditional transportation systems although it is often seen only as additional to the already existing transportation system. However, planning, construction and operation of urban ropeways has its challenges also in looking at electrical safety issues when they are situated especially in the vicinity of the existing infrastructure. Therefore, in this paper, a universal model for the calculation of the conductive and inductive interference of ropeway systems by high-voltage overhead lines, cables, railways, subways etc. in normal operation and in the event of a short circuit is presented on the basis of a practical example.
