Abstract
The water volume shifts between the extracellular (ECV) and the intracellular (ICV) space in the patient's body during hemodialysis were estimated with a comprehensive multicompartment model. The results were compared to data measured with a bioimpedance plethysmograph. 6 chronic dialysis patients were studied, the measured volume shifts agree satisfactorily with the predicted ones in most cases.
