Assessment and Reliability of Traffic Emissions

The project will develop a harmonised emission model for all transport modes which aims to provide consistent emission estimates at the national, international and regional level. The methodology will be transformed into a new emission model which takes into account the structure of the new emission factors produced from measurements in this project as well as data from the national and international studies. In addition, data on traffic characteristics and activities for the EU and the Eastern countries will be collected to reduce discrepancies between the emission estimates made in different ways. Furthermore, the emission model for road transport will be validated by street tunnel measurements and on-road vehicle tests which will improve the estimates and enhance the credibility of the results. All traffic modes -road, rail, air, and water - will be covered within this project.
